Imperio Anel earned her bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from ITCM in
2006. She went on to receive her MSc degree in Advanced Technology in 2011 for
CICATA-IPN, followed by a PhD in Applied Sciences from IPICYT, Mexico, in 2015.
During her PhD studies, she completed an international research stay at Sun Moon
University in South Korea, where she focused on investigating the degradation of
pollutants in wastewater. In 2018, she also completed an International Postdoctoral
Research program on electronic devices using 3D printing at the Microsystem
Technological Laboratory at MIT.
Dr. Anel is a co-author of 22 scientific articles and co-inventor of a patent granted in
Mexico and the USA. She has collaborated with Whirlpool Mexico to improve washing
machine efficiency. Currently, she works as a research professor at the Accelerated
Materials Development Unit of the Institute of Advanced Materials for Sustainable
Manufacturing at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She is also a member of the National
Researchers System of Mexico (SNI-Level I). Her research focuses on nanotechnology
for advanced and sustainable materials, designing smart materials, electronic devices,
semiconductors for environmental remediation, and additive manufacturing.
